When to go to Vang Vieng

There are two distinct seasons in Laos, which is the rainy season and the dry season. The rainy season is from May to October, where you can partake in some activities that are especially amazing for this season. For example, you can kayak along the rivers and enjoy the sight of lush green farmlands and fields. However, if you are looking to visit tourist spots like the blue lagoon, this may not be the best period to go.

During the dry season, you can experience winter in Laos from November to February, and summer from March to April. It may drop to approximately 15 degrees during winter and can go up to the 30s in the summer, so make sure to prepare well for these temperatures.

One of the top options if you are looking for vegetarian, vegan, and gluten free options. The restaurant possesses a large menu of sweet and savoury Thai food and has friendly service. It is opened every day, from 12.30pm to 10.30pm.

3. Restaurant du Crabe d’Or

AA fining dining restaurant located at Riverside Boutique Resort, be treated with a gorgeous view as you select between traditional Lao and French dishes. Opened every day, from 7am to 10am, 12pm to 2pm, and 6.30pm to 9.30pm.

4. Peeping Som’s

A Korean barbecue joint that is popular with tourists, cook your own meats and vegetables and breathe in the appetizing smell that fills the air. Enjoy some alcohol to go with the barbecue as well. It is open daily, from 12pm to 11pm

5. Il Tavalo

Serving the best pizza in town, head over here to grab some Italian, vegetarian, or Mediterranean dishes if you are craving it. Sure to not leave you disappointed, this restaurant is opened for dinner only, from 5.30pm to 11pm, every day except Thursday.

6. Green Restaurant

For more vegan and vegetarian options, check this restaurant out, where the curry and spring rolls are simply delectable. Serving Western and Asian options, the Asian dishes are the true gems of this place. It is opened daily from 6.30am to 11pm.

7. Amigos Vang Vieng

1. Insect repellent

Mosquitoes will be that dark cloud ruining the perfect sky here in Laos. Remember to bring your insect repellent if you do not want to be itching all day long.

2. Sun protection (sunscreen, hat, sunglasses)

The sun in Laos is deadly. Remember your protective gear – sunscreen, hat, and sunglasses.

3. Long trousers

Stay safe with long trousers as you travel around. It will be your shield from the sharp branches and plants that may cut into your skin.

4. Trekking or comfortable shoes

Wear comfortable, preferably trekking shoes, as you will most likely be doing tons of walking here. May the blisters not be with you.
