This 1 day excursion takes you out of Vientiane and into the countryside. In a small village you board a boat and travel up a river into the heart of the jungle. Hike through the jungle and explore the national park as local guides point out interesting plant life. Hike until you reach two waterfalls where you will have a chance to swim at the base of these falls in a natural pool.

What Will You Do

We leave Vientiane and travel to a small village on the edge of the national park. After exploring the village, we will spend some time with locals and enjoy a lovely traditional bamboo basket weaving session, where you will be able to create your own handicrafts. We then trek through an evergreen forest, slowly gaining elevation as we push deeper into the jungle.

Eventually we reach the scenic waterfalls of Tad Xay and Pha Xay, particularly beautiful during or just after the rainy season when they are in full flow, where we will enjoy a delicious picnic lunch. We have some free time at Tad Xay which has a great pool for bathing or swimming.

After relaxing under the waterfall we drive back to Vientiane, where you can be dropped off at your hotel or in the city centre to explore the city’s night life by yourself. Be sure to ask your guide for some recommendations for restaurants, cafes or bars.

Approximately: 2 hours transfer, 3 hours trekking

Our water policy

Help us to become 100% single use plastic free company!

We try to avoid plastic as much as possible, that is why we encourage you to bring your own refillable bottle.
We have water refillable station at our office where you can fill up your bottle.  If you don’t have one we sell the 0,75 L Green Discovery aluminium bottles at our sales office.  At the moment we will still need to use plastic bottles in some of our tours but we hope to reduce it as much as possible. Together with The Green Discovery Sustainability Fund we are working on installing water filters in all the villages we are visiting and we hope in the future we will not need to use plastic bottles anymore.
