What Will You Do
Day 1: Living alongside the National Park
We start our tour by driving east from Thakhek towards the Phou Hin Boun National Park. We pass through some beautiful scenery before arriving at a small village. Here we will meet our local guides who will lead us along the Nam Don River to start our trek. On the trek, our local guides will teach us about the local plants and animals while explaining the relationship they have with the forest. We will stop at some lovely swimming spots where we can enjoy a picnic lunch of Lao food. After lunch we continue trekking to a small village, where we will spend the night as guests of a local family, in their house. We will explore the village and learn about the community’s daily life before enjoying a delicious traditional dinner prepared by the villagers. After dinner we will take part in a traditional Baci Ceremony before being treated to some traditional performances by the villagers.
Approximately: 1 hour transfer, 5 hours trekking
Day 2: Forest trekking to the blue lagoon
After a leisurely breakfast, we continue our trek through the mountains and bamboo forests until arriving at another small village where we will stop for lunch. After enjoying our food we continue trekking to a stunning blue lagoon with crystal clear water. We will spend some time cooling off in the water and relaxing before we drive back to Thakek.
Approximately 5 hours trekking and 1.5 hours transfer
What to expect:
Expect full days of trekking over some challenging terrain. Accomodation in the village is very basic and the washing facilities are rudimentary.
