What Will You Do
The trip starts by driving out of town and heading down ‘Cave Alley’, a stretch of road bordered by limestone mountains full of caves. We make our way to a small village which serves as the starting point for our kayaking adventure. After a safety briefing and some paddling instructions, it is time to set off and head down the river.
As we continue paddling onwards, we pass through some amazing natural scenery before arriving at a section of the river with many sandbanks. We stop here to enjoy a picnic lunch either on the river bank or on an island, depending on the river level.
As we continue on after lunch , the river meanders through a beautiful landscape of towering limestone cliffs. We continue downstream the scenery changes to dense forest and towering mountain peaks.
Along the way we will see local fishermen going about their everyday lives, performing tasks that remained unchanged for generations.
The kayaking ends in a small village where our transport awaits for the return back to Thakhek which takes around 45 minutes along an unpaved road.

Help us to become 100% single use plastic free company!
We try to avoid plastic as much as possible, that is why we encourage you to bring your own refillable bottle.
We have water refillable station at our office where you can fill up your bottle. If you don’t have one we sell the 0,75 L Green Discovery aluminium bottles at our sales office. At the moment we will still need to use plastic bottles in some of our tours but we hope to reduce it as much as possible. Together with The Green Discovery Sustainability Fund we are working on installing water filters in all the villages we are visiting and we hope in the future we will not need to use plastic bottles anymore.
