The best spots in Vang Vieng, including some hidden gems, offering the best views and backdrops for your photos
Come and explore the best of Vang Vieng! We will take you to the most scenic, photogenic and instagram-able locations in Vang Vieng. We have designed this tour to allow you plenty of time at each location to get the perfect shot.
What Will You Do
We start the day by traveling to the pedestrian bridge that crosses the Nam Song River. Here is a great location for you to work on your composition with the leading lines of the bridge giving you lots of options!
From here we head out of town to a secret location where you can get an amazing photo by the river with limestone mountains in the background. We then head back towards town, stopping on the way at waterfall. Here is a great chance to practice long exposure photography or get a great shot under the waterfall.
We then head to one of Vang Vieng’s most famous lookouts where you can great some great shots of the views or some incredible portraits. It’s a tough climb to the top so make sure you are prepared for a big walk. You might want to bring a change of clothes so you don’t have to wear sweaty clothes in the photo, but be aware that there are not any private places to get changed. We will have a picnic lunch at the lookout before heading back down the hill to our next location. We will drive to one of the famous blue lagoons where you have the opportunity for a swim and some more great photos.
Once we have finished at the blue lagoon we will head back towards town and finish the day at the Inthira Hotel, behind the Green Discovery Office. This is another excellent place for photos as the hotel has an infinity pool with an uninterrupted view of the mountains behind Vang Vieng at sunset.
What to expect:
Some locations require hiking up to a viewpoint which can be a strenuous walk. Sometimes we will need to walk through rice paddies, which can be very muddy at some times of year. While our guides are happy to help you in any way they can, please be aware that they are not photographers and cannot offer you assistance with technical aspects of photography.

Help us to become 100% single use plastic free company!
We try to avoid plastic as much as possible, that is why we encourage you to bring your own refillable bottle.
We have water refillable station at our office where you can fill up your bottle. If you don’t have one we sell the 0,75 L Green Discovery aluminium bottles at our sales office. At the moment we will still need to use plastic bottles in some of our tours but we hope to reduce it as much as possible. Together with The Green Discovery Sustainability Fund we are working on installing water filters in all the villages we are visiting and we hope in the future we will not need to use plastic bottles anymore.
