Vang Vieng Day Tour
Vang Vieng 2 Days Tour

(2 days sightseeing and caving, all seasons)

The tour takes us to the idyllic setting of Vang Vieng. Along the way, we stop at the archaeological site ' Vang Xang'. In Vang Vieng, we go caving and explore the limestone karsts with their unique ecology. On the return journey, we visit the Nam Ngum Reservoir and local villages with famous local products.

Itinerary:
Day 1: Vientiane – Vang Xang – Tham Chang Cave - Organic Farm – Vang Vieng

We depart from Vientiane and follow Road No. 13 northwards. Our first stop will be the archaeological site of Vang Xang which dates back to the Mon-Khmer period of the 8–11th century. En route, we will stop at Hmong village and arrive in Vang Vieng in time for lunch at a local restaurant. We drop at the hotel for check–in.

In the afternoon, we visit the Tham Chang Cave and then take a long-tail boat on the Nam Song River to the Organic Farm known for its sericulture as well as mulberry tea and wine production. Enjoy tasting! We return to Vang Vieng by long-tail boat at sunset. The dinner will be served at Ban Sabai Riverside restaurant in the tranquil setting of the Nam Song River. We stay overnight at Ban Sabai Riverside Bungalows or similar.

Approximately: 4 hours transfer/ 2 hours caving/ 1 hour boating

Note: The boat trip on the Nam Song can be done only from July to January. From Feb to June, due to low water level, we drive by car to the Organic Farm.

Day 2: Vang Vieng - Ban Vieng Samay - Ban Pak Kha Nyoung - Ban Keun - Vientiane
After breakfast at the hotel, you visit the famous caves around Vang Vieng which include Tham Xang, Tham Hoy, and Tham Loup.

We stop for lunch at Ban Vieng Samay.

After lunch, we start our journey back to Vientiane. On the way back to Vientiane on the road No 10, we’ll visit a traditional salt abstraction site at Ban Keun and continue to Dong Makkhai Market, now known for its large selection of insects, but where local people used to sell wild animals not so long time ago.

Note: The exploration of the caves can be replaced by kayaking on the beautiful Nam Song river but there is an additional charge (see below)

We arrive in Vientiane in the late afternoon.

Approximately: 4 hours transfer/ 2 hours caving

Note: We can go kayaking from Ban Vieng Samay to the Organic Farm, but with an additional charge. There will be no time to stop en route via road No. 13 on the journey back to Vientiane.
