We depart from Pakse toward the Four Thousand Islands or Sipan Done. We start kayaking at Hat Saykhoon village and paddle along the flowing waters of the Mekong. We pass over peaceful island villages with coconut trees. We stop on an island beach for a picnic lunch then continue to Don Khone Island, spending the night in a guest house overlooking the sunset. Camping is possible in the dry season
Approximately: 2 and ½ hours transfer/ 4 and ½ hours kayaking or rafting
After breakfast, we take a short morning walk visit colonial building in the island and continue to the Lee Phi Waterfall to view this natural phenomenon. We can hear the spine chilling thunder from the falls. Falls that vexed the early French explorers.
We enjoy lunch at Lee Phi Waterfall before paddling downstream to Ban Hang Khone through more tranquil waters and through the gorges. Once we get to Ban Hang Khone, we get on a boat for a ride to dolphin area. Green Discovery Laos is working with local authorities to get up a dolphin conservation fund, a fixed percentage of all paddle tours in the area being dedicated to the fund. We return to the village for overnight
Approximately: 3 hours walking/ 2 and ½ kayaking or rafting/1 hour boat
End of 2 days tour: Trip ends at Khone Phapheng, we’ll return to Pakse (Approximately 3 hours)
Note: You can continue onward to Cambodia. Transfer to the border is included Contact us for road tour to Siem Reap!
After breakfast, we take a Tuk Tuk to Don Khon. From Ban HangKhon, we enjoy a short boat ride to Don Ae and paddle from here for about 2 hours. We kayak on the Mekong, heading into a huge class 1- 2 rapid where we are washed downstream into a long section of large whirlpools. These whirlpools have kept people out of the area for centuries so the surrounding forests shelter a surprising variety of wildlife. We continue by Tuk Tuk to Khone Phapheng Water Fall. Lunch is served nearby the waterfall.
After lunch, we view the Khone Phapheng falls from above, from an island set amongst the falls. The sheer power of the water at such close range is staggering - only Green Discovery Laos can offer this viewpoint. From here, we’ll drive back to Pakse
Approximately: 3 hours transfer/ 3 hours kayaking or rafting / ½ hour boat
Note: You can continue onward to Cambodia. Transfer to the border is included Contact us for road tour to Siem Reap!
