Option 1: 1 day trip of forest trek
We depart from Green Discovery Office in Luang Prabang. On arrival to Ban Hatkang, we trek through old growth forests and follow the traditional hunting paths that offer a rare insight into the unique culture and nature of the Pha Theung area. A picnic style lunch is taken a long the trail.
After that, we trek to Tham Gula Cave. The location of which is only known by Green Discovery guides. We then continue to the pick-up point at the local village of Ban Si Boun Hom which is located along the Nam Ou River. Here, we have time for relaxing and swimming before returning to Luang Prabang.
Approximately: 1 hour transfer/ 6 hours trekking
Note: You can also start from Ban Si Boun Hom and end at Ban Hatkang
Option 2: 2 days trip of villages and forest trek
We depart from Green Discovery Office in Luang Prabang. On arrival to Ban Hatkang, we trek through old growth forests and follow the traditional hunting paths that offer a rare insight into the unique culture and nature of the Pha Theung area. A picnic style lunch is taken a long the trail.
We descend down the other side of the mountain after lunch to meet the Pha Theung Waterfall. It’s falling into the cave. Here we have a short break for relaxation, and then we trek to the village of Ban Huei Leum. We spend the night in the village of Khmu ethnic minority who host us with the amazing hospitality. Our guides act as interpreters enabling a fascinating interaction with the people of Ban Huei Leum.
Approximately: 1 hour transfer/ 6hours trekking
After breakfast at around 8.30am. We begin our trek through some beautiful forest towards Tham Gula Caves. The location of which is only known by Green Discovery guides. Here we take a rest and enjoy a picnic lunch.
After that we continue to pick up point at the local village of Ban Si Boun Hom which is located along the Nam Ou River. Here, we have time for relaxing and swimming before returning to Luang Prabang.
Approximately: 1 hour transfer/ 5 hours trekking
Note: You can also start from Ban Si Boun Hom and end at Ban Hatkang. For this option, we’ll visit The Tham Gula Cave on the first day.
