Depart from Green Discovery Laos office in Thakek, we drive for about 2 hours to Ban Pepeng. From here we start cycling to Ban Thana. We cycle into the forest with its trees heavily loaded with orchids and drive under high shady trees along mountain slopes with breathtaking views. In Ban Thana we take our lunch.
After lunch, we visit Ban Bouloo. We continue along the steady trail into the forest until reaching Blue Lagoon. We rest and dine at the lagoon's bank in front our camp site.
Approximately: 2 hours transfer/ 3 ½ hours cycling
After breakfast, we kayak (optional, take a boat ride) to explore a river cave (Tham Koun Bouloo). For the novice this introduces us to the thrill of cave explorations. Its hidden corridors are filled with seemingly countless stalagmites and stalactites beside underground lakes, deep wells and up to 80 meters high chimneys. Sunlight beams through the roof top opening of the cave. Wind blows on the mouth of the cave constantly. After exiting the cave, we enjoy a cool swim at the blue lagoon before cycling on to Bouloo Village for lunch. We’ll see the remains of an ancient temple
After lunch, we trek into the forest along a winding path. We’ll pass through the Luang Cave (villagers use this as the main route to the outside world) to catch our transport to return back to Thakek.
Approximately: 1½ hour transfer/2 hours kayaking or boat/ 3 hours cycling/ 2½ hours trekking
