After a year of
judicious planning and construction, another 3 months of testing and
optimizing, we finally completed “JUNGLE FLY”,
an eco-adventure project based on zip-line activities.
SAFETY FIRST !
It is needless
to mention that much emphasis has been put on safety; GDL staff is trained
by international specialists in
outdoor sports.
The
equipment is carefully chosen
and we carry out regular maintenance procedures which comply with international standards and regulations.

Zip-lining
gets you the feel of freedom while whooshing from tree to tree along steel
wires in up to 37 meters height and 180 meters in length!
Scaling the dizzying heights on ropes, giant nets,
sling or U-bridges and getting back to earth through ‘abseiling’ adds to the extra-ordinary excitement.

A boat
ride on the picturesque Nam Lik and a trek through dispersed bamboo
groves and dense forest, in which orchids and ferns abound, will
take you to the site as no road reaches the area.

You may
also opt for an additional kayak trip from Hin Heup directly
to the site.

To
complete your weekends, Green Discovery has set up the option for an overnight
stay in comfortable tents mounted on bamboo platforms inside the forest.
Around
a campfire in the evening, you are served with excellent BBQ delicatessen
such as grilled beef and chicken, maize, potatoes roasted in charcoal glow,
fresh salads to name just a few. Our dedicated staff will show you how to
prepare the ultimate ‘jungle banana flambéed’…

After
the opulence of this joyful dinner, you may retreat for a night under
sparkling stars and of felt absolute silence, with only the night fauna
discretely intoning its fabulous jungle symphony.

of all shapes. One does not have to be an athlete! The only ‘requirement’ is

It is not only all fun! Green
Discovery is fully committed to its principles of social and environmental
responsibility.
We are
seeking native expertise for being able to give authentic information to our
clients, and have hired more than a dozen local villagers and women for
guiding, cooking, maintenance work and other services, thus providing new
incomes to as many families.
Part
of the income* also goes directly to a village funds for poverty alleviation
projects. This in turn, will help to considerably reduce wildlife trade and
slash & burn activities usually rampant in this area
which are part of our foremost concerns. (*

The venue is located near Phonehong, half way from
Vientiane to Vang Vieng about 17 Km from Hin-Heup and 10Km from Route 13.
Green Discovery is opening a Jungle Fly office along
highway 13 soon (north; km 81), from where you can start your adventure when
you’re arriving on your own. Transportation from/to Vientiane and Vang Vieng
can also be offered.

This one day tour offers the complete adrenalin kick of the zip-line and canopy
activities. Leaving Vientiane by car in the morning at 8 a.m., you travel for
2 hrs northwards, take then a 20 min motorboat ride on the Nam Lik river and
trek finally up-hill for around one hour to the adventure site. A picnic
lunch in the forest with beautiful views around is served during the trek.
You return along the same way minus trekking in the late afternoon and will
arrive in Vientiane at about 7 p.m.

Add a kayak trip before getting
the adrenalin kick of the whole set of canopy activities! You leave Vientiane
by car in the morning at 8 a.m. and travel for 1½ hr northwards to Hin Heup
village. Before kayaking downstream the scenic Nam Lik river for one hour,
you will get some basic introduction into kayaking and safety measures.
Leaving the boat behind, you will trek up the mountain and through dense
forest for about 40 minutes. A picnic lunch will be served on the way. The
afternoon is reserved for the complete set of canopy adventures, culminating
in whooshing from tree to tree on the zip-lines. We return to Vientiane by
motorboat and car and arrive there at about 7 p.m. (The less exhausted may
opt to paddle - still downstream - to the waiting car instead taking the
motorboat)

For this two day experience of a
night in the forest with a memorable BBQ dinner around a bonfire and a lot of
activities starts in Vientiane at 8 a.m., driving to Hin Heup for 1½ hours
before getting some basic instructions in kayaking and safety. Then you
paddle downstream the Nam Lik river for an hour or so. Trek up the mountain
and have a picnic lunch in the forest overlooking the Nam Lik valley. Then
trek for another half hour before reaching the forest camp where you can
discover on your own the surrounding area with mysterious forest plants,
orchids, ferns, watch some birds, or just relax. A joyous evening is spent at
the camp with an open fire and wonderful grill delights and chats about
travel and life, before retreating into your personal tent.
After breakfast you can immerse
into the freedom and excitement of using the whole adventure set of Zip-line,
Abseiling, rope walking and the like. A well deserved lunch and rest will be
taken somewhere in the forest. In the early afternoon you embark the
motorboat for 20 minutes to get into the waiting car which brings you back to Vientiane. You will arrive here at about 5 p.m.
